The Transportation Lawyers Association (TLA) on January 18-19, 2018, held its Labor and Employment Boot Camp and Annual Regional Seminar at the Fairmont Chicago, Millennium Park in Chicago, Illinois. As part of its mission, the TLA strives to provide educational programs to keep its members ahead of the constant changes in the specialized legal environment governing all aspects of the supply chain, transportation and regulatory issues. The two days of quality programming featured distinguished speakers from across the country addressing a variety of topics of interest to transportation lawyers. The full agenda is available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n During opening remarks, Frank Botta, President of the TLA welcomed more than 230 attendees to the event. \u201cI was excited to welcome those members who have been away and rejoined the membership, current members, attendees from the Chicago area and more than 20 new first-time attendees. The TLA Chicago Regional Conference will celebrate its 30th Anniversary next year and continues to grow,\u201d Botta said.<\/p>\n In addition, he noted, \u201cThis conference included a milestone in the Association\u2019s 80th year history as we had our first law student member appear as a panel speaker.\u201d Richard Bochicchio, who is a first-year law student at the University of Notre Dame and also a Pittsburgh native, was selected to participate in the Transportation Ethics Roundtable: \u201cThe Ethics Hotline is Open: Calls Now Being Accepted,\u201d which took place on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n Ethics Panel: Moderator: Bridgette Blitch (far right), Madison Bulman and Richard Bochicchio (First student member to speak at a TLA conference in its 80 year history)<\/p><\/div>\n The Association continued its support of the Puerto Rican relief efforts, by collecting donations of about $1,700 from conference attendees. This adds to the initial funds collected at the 50th Annual Transportation Law Institute held in Norfolk, Virginia in November, bringing the total raised to more than $3,200.<\/p>\n The TLA celebrates its 80th Anniversary this year. The 2018 Annual Conference will take place May 2-5, 2018 at Waldorf Astoria Orlando.
